Oh, to be free and liberated from any and all psychological and spiritual issues, and to have total inner peace and joy with myself and with others; no matter how they may treat or feel about me.
“I do what I want to do if I don’t want to do it I don’t do it. But if I want to do it, get out of my gawd damn way”. Willie Nelson
I’ve worked to have a Zen life AND IT FEELS GREAT! These days I am as joyful and at peace as I have ever been in my life. And the work continues.
As I journey into what I call the 5th chapter (I’ve broken each chapter into 20 years) of my life, I’ll continue to:
- Expand my consciousness
- Stop us, them thinking
- Examine my negative beliefs
- Evolve into this next phase as the person I am (my true self). I can’t grow old ’cause I’m too busy growing up.
There are a lot of mature women who are experts in fashion and make-up and I’ll point you to them. What we’ll focus on in this blog are the various ways our health: psychological, biological, physical, environmental, and financial must be taken into account for a Zen and joyful type life.
This is based on my experiences and research and I hope you get something from these articles to think about.
WHAT IS A ZEN LIFE?
Some think of Zen as a type of Buddhism that focuses on awareness through the practice of meditation.
For this article, Zen is a term used for feeling peaceful and relaxed. I love to sit and simply watch the trees. Check out the scene below that’s like a tranquil Zen garden.
I’d like to know how do you zen?
Some of us live a peaceful and joyful life that comes naturally. But for a lot of us (me), we have to design a plan for a balanced life that includes: physical, medical, emotional, spiritual, and financial.
Let’s briefly take each one separately and go into more detail in future articles and discussions.
PHYSICAL…Being healthy doesn’t mean without ill. Most of us, especially in our age group, have some type of physical issue. I have severe bone deterioration over my entire body; however, I don’t go around thinking and complaining about it to everyone I see. I’ve developed a wellness management plan for living with it.
I’m in pain most of the time so I get massages, acupuncture, and try to move as much as I can (sometimes my exercise is just housework but it’s moving).
I include vitamins, a healthy diet, rest, hot baths, and if it gets really bad I call my pain doctor and get an injection.
MEDICAL…awareness is vital. We should all be proactive with our medical health and not wait until we get sick to take action and we don’t want to leave it all to the doctors.
Doctors don’t have all the answers and many are too busy to do what might need to be done for quality medical care.
I have a Concierge Physician (a private doctor who doesn’t take medicare). The advantage is I can call and talk to him directly anytime I need to. There is no wait or rush with appointments.
I prefer the Concierge rather than a Physician who takes medicare because of my various (supposedly unrelated) medical issues.
With a medicare doctor, I could only talk about one issue per visit within a limited amount of time.
With the Concierge, I can discuss anything at any time which helps me clarify and put everything medically into perspective.

EMOTIONAL…awareness and health include the ability to relax your body and mind where you feel emotionally secure and relaxed in your everyday life.
Emotional wellness is when you have such a high degree of emotional health that you often radiate joy and feel high on life.
Emotional wellness is the state you enjoy as you move closer to being self-actualized.
SPIRITUAL… awareness has to do with your purpose in life. Spirituality means different things to different people.
I’ve been on a spiritual journey where I focus on continued self-awareness and transformation of my true self.
I constantly attempt to connect with my higher guidance while creating a state of inner balance.
FINANCIAL…Because you have reached a certain age and maybe living on a set income doesn’t mean you have to accept where you are financial.
Today, (with computers and phones) there are many creative (and not so creative) ways to bring in extra income. And if you are computer savvy, there are a lot of programs to teach you.
Age doesn’t matter to computers and a lot of seniors are learning about the stock market and actively trading successfully these days. I’m one of them.
Hello just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words in your post seem to
be running off the screen in Internet explorer.
I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something
to do with internet browser compatibility but I
figured I’d post to let you know. The design look great though!
Hope you get the issue fixed soon. Cheers
Thank you for your alert. However I don’t know what you mean “words running off the screen in internet explorer”. Are you not able to read the posts?
When I open the site it appears ok.
I’d appreciate your clarifying. Thanks again. jj
