Rather than make a list of goals or resolutions (I do have some that I’ll get to later) I want to list many of the things that I have to be thankful for at the beginning of the new year and the beginning of my new age.
I’m thankful for:
- The ability to be able to get in and out of the bathtub both mentally and physically
- The lovely apartment that I have downsized to
- The hot and cold water
- The electricity and cable that provides me with electric and light energy and cable and internet for all my computers, printers, and t.v.’s
- The fact that I have all my teeth
- Great eyesight. Don’t need prescription glasses
- Having a good sense of smell
- The ability to hear well
- The ability to handle all of my household tasks as one who lives alone
- The maintenance of my cognitive abilities
- Bringing in the 18th year as a cancer survivor
- Having overcome all of the negatives of the past that were placed in my path for whatever reasons
- My family, even though we are not close either geographically or emotionally
- My continued journey toward self-growth, self-healing, and self-understanding
- My financial ability to handle the above
- All the peace that I am experiencing at this stage of my life
Yes, I have a lot of gratitude for a host of things. Things beyond what I have printed above. But what I want to show in this article is that we often forget the small things we have that many others wish they had.
We’re so busy in our daily lives (even those who are retired) that we forget gratitude. The very first thing I do when I sink down into the hot water of my bathtub is close my eyes and thank the universe this way.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for all the blessings that have been bestowed upon me.
Thank you for my apartment, for my lovely bathroom, for this bathtub, for the hot water in the tub,
and thank you for my ability to get in and out of the tub both physically and mentally.
And please continue to guide me toward kindness toward others and show me how I can be used to help those willing to receive it.
I wish each and every one of you a very healthy 2023
